Mission Salvati Copiii Romania is acting also for effective improvment of the children rights and for changing policy si legislation for the benefit of the children
Salvati Copiii’s mission is to promote and fight for children’s rights according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Objectives General objectives
Save the Children Romania involves actively in the assimilation into the legislation of the provisions of UN Convention with reference to the defense and promotion of child rights. Save the Children is lobbying for influencing social policies and the legislation in the benefit of children.
Who we support :
- the institutionalized children
- working children in the streets
- children and young people drugs addicts
- refugee children and minority groups
- children victims of trafficking
- unaccompanied children in other countries.
More than that, during the time Salvati Copiii were involved in campaigns of sensitizing public opinion and made studies and research related to the category of children above.
Salvati Copiii had contributed to the elaboration of Tha National Strategy for child in need protection, The National Strategy for rroma children, The Opperatinal plan in case of children abuse, protection for romanian children abroad, a lot of Salvati Copiii recomandations are reflected by the romanian legislation.

- social services and education for the economically exploited children
The program aims at granting direct support to the children exploited or risking to be exploited through work and to their families (social, educational, psychological, legal services and facilitation to the medical services) and the sensitizing the specialists and the public opinion regarding the causes of the children’s exploitation through work. At the same time, the developed activities contribute to developing certain attitudes and behaviors responsible with their health.
Promoting children safety on Internet
- Save the Children Romania participated to the financing programme of the European Commision and gained the auction for the project. Starting september 2008, in partnership with Positive Media and FOCUS Center – Romanian Center for Missing Children and Sexual Exploated Children, the organization is the national coordinator of the programme Sigur.Info that belongs to the European programme „Safer Internet Plus”. The general objective is to promote children safety on Internet
- Information, prevention and fight against drug consumption campaigns
Salvati Copiii was involved in training personnel from the institutions that are activating in the area of children rights in the domain of drug consumption prevention (doctors, psycologists, social assistants). Through the programme Education for Health, Save the Children seeks to inform students on the adoption of a healthy lifestyle by reducing the behaviours at risk by emphasizing the prevention of drug consumption and the reduction of the incidence of sexually transmitted infections in the young population.
- Support for seropositive children
Salvati Copiii Romania run programmes for the social and school integration of seropositive children and teenagers, addressing at the same time to vulnerable categories by programmes of information and awareness to prevent the spread of HIV virus and to the general public to reduce discrimination.
- Counseling for the abused, neglected and trafficked child
The project aims at providing counseling and rehabilitation services for the children victim of abuse, negligence and traffic and or their families. The program also aims at increasing the knowledge level of the parents’ and specialists’ in order to reduce the risk factors (conflicts and abuses within the family, school and other institutions’ environment) and promoting the values of the positive education. There have been founded 5 resources centers for the parents in Bucharest, Iasi, Suceava, Targu Mures and Timisoara.
- Integration of refugees and separated children in Romanian society
Through this project 55 refugee children and asylum seekers and 12 families were helped to adapt and integrate in Romanian society in 2008

The funds directed by the programmes of the organization came from private companies in Romania, amounting to 31%. The partnership of the organization Save the Children with the business sector developed so much that, with their help, we were able to ensure the access to education for 18.000 children and youngsters, counselling and rehabilitation for 818 children and over 300 parents.
